Position Overview
Are you passionate about shaping the future of infrastructure projects? Kiewit is seeking an early to mid-level Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Project Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting multiple projects by providing expertise in scheduling, contract administration, and cost controls.
District Overview
Kiewit’s Northern California District is one of Kiewit’s leading infrastructure districts specializing in various types of work in the heavy civil, power, transportation, and water resource markets. Although most of our work is regionally based in Northern California, we also pursue various projects across the west coast. Our Northern California district has been extremely successful and have over $600 million dollars of work and plan to grow this region by $200 million in 2022. Location
Our Project Engineering team is headquartered out of our office in Fairfield, CA. There may be some travel to our other project sites in the Bay Area.

Responsibilities
- Read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
- Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and Primavera scheduling software with input from other project management personnel.
- Assist with completing monthly Time Impact Analysis’ (TIAs)
- Assist projects with compiling and management of short-term schedule development and reporting (90-day and 3-Week look ahead schedules)
- Review new issue drawings and contract documents for change of conditions; quantify impact of changes and review with job teams.
- Assist in the tracking of project change orders and development of projections.
- Complete progress and quantity audits to validate reported progress.
- Produce monthly reports on schedule and cost progress, trends, and forecasts.
- Understand company and project quality control and quality assurance procedures.
- Assist project managers with development of project procedures.
- Travel to jobsites as necessary.
Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience in Project Controls/Project Engineering.
- Knowledge of project management software such as Microsoft Office Suite and Primavera.
- Experience utilizing SAP is preferred, but not required.
- Experience performing Monthly Schedule Updates and Time Impact Analysis’.
- Ability to analyze project data and provide summary level project reports for management.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.

Base Compensation: $90000 - $120000
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
