Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (Infrastructure Facilities + Buildings: IF+B) is seeking an Architectural Intern. We are looking for ideal candidates to grow the Kiewit team by helping establish, maintain, and improve company standards and tools while also utilizing these standards and tools to contribute to project success. Candidates shall be familiar with current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software with an understanding of design documentation creation and layouts. Candidates shall be capable of exhibiting flexibility in work assignments while maintaining a growth mindset and continuing to develop in their technical and professional career.

Responsibilities

  • Develop familiarity with departmental design standards, applicable codes and Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Receive close supervision by a more experienced architect. 
  • Understand, contribute to, and adhere to the Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) Quality Plan requirements and objectives.
  • Prepare basic architectural, or mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) design sketches for drafting and incorporation into final plans.     
  • Assist in checking various Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) prepared drawings and documents as assigned and within established guidelines.
  • May inspect construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to architectural/MEP drawings, specifications, and construction.
  • Check vendor drawings for compliance to design specifications.
  • Communicate with other disciplines to coordinate design interfacing issues.

Location

This position is based out of our New York City, NY office. 

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Architectural Engineering or Architecture and, in addition to architectural courses, has started electrical, mechanical, or structural system courses from an accredited college or university
  • GPA above a 3.0
  • Should be comfortable with the use of basic spreadsheet, database, and Word processing programs
  • Must be familiar with basic CADD software and Revit

•    Regular, reliable attendance
•    Work productively and meet deadlines timely
•    Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
•    Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
•    Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

 

Base Compensation: $20.00/hr - $24.50/hr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
