Position Overview

Kiewit has a new opening for a Deputy Director of Commissioning. The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of the EPC project completions phase which encompasses the pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, interim operation, and performance testing of the plant contracted under the EPC scope.

This position is based out of Lenexa, KS. Opportunities for flexible work are available.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable to the EPC project directors and project managers for the successful completion of the commissioning and startup phase through plant acceptance by the client.
  • Liaise and coordinate with Directors of Process & Technology and Engineering during the projects E&P phase to ensure operability of the design and in the development of the startup and commissioning documentation.
  • Directs the Operations Managers and Commissioning Managers which are under his direct line of responsibility. Provides guidance to them as needed.
  • Participates in any joint venture meetings and high-level client meetings as requested by the Project Director.
  • Periodically visits various job sites that are in commissioning and startup phase and overseas the satisfactory execution of the site Commissioning Manager’s activities in the field. Audits, as needed, the problem areas at site and reports to management accordingly.
  • Reviews and recommends the commissioning manpower requirements, schedule, and cost estimates for all projects.
  • Daily requirements to make tactical decisions involving various managers from his group executing the commissioning and startup functions on various EPC projects.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in either chemical or mechanical engineering is desired but not required.
  • Must have 10-15 years OGC Commissioning experience
  • Successful global or regional commissioning track record
  • EPC experience required
