Position Overview
Kiewit is expanding its design team specializing in Hydropower, Dams and Hydraulic Structures (HDH) and is seeking top performing contributors to support and sustain its growth. As such, we are currently looking for a Hydropower Project Engineer specializing in Hydropower, Dams and Hydraulic Structures. The candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team that includes civil, mechanical, hydraulic, geotechnical and electrical engineers, as well as estimators, schedulers and other construction professionals to provide various services to internal groups for the development of HDH projects.
Responsibilities will consist in overseeing the technical integration of hydropower projects, ensuring seamless coordination between various engineering disciplines, supporting business development efforts, participating in proposal preparation, supporting estimating and construction planning and managing project timelines and budgets. The successful candidate will demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and strong collaboration and coordination skills while providing technical, quality and safety leadership on projects.

Location
This position is open at our main Kiewit offices in Canada (Laval, QC, Oakville, ON) and may involve occasional travel to other North American offices depending on project or organizational needs (up to 15%). Other Kiewit offices may be considered based on the candidate's experience. The position could be eligible for remote work depending on the candidate's experience and autonomy.
Responsibilities
In collaboration with the HDH Technical Integration Discipline Lead:
- Manage and improve technical interfaces on hydroelectric powerplants, dam and spillway projects.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to identify, mitigate project risks and optimize hydroelectric projects as a whole.
- Contribute to the execution of hydroelectric engineering projects, including interfacing with consultants, manufacturers and internal teams.
- Support HDH business development efforts for Kiewit's various districts in North America.
- Contribute to technical proposals by defining scope, schedule and budgets.
- Support the growth of the hydroelectric engineering team by participating in recruitment and integration efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or in a related field combined with experience in the hydropower market, dams and hydraulic structures.
- More than 5 years of experience in hydropower systems and integration, managing projects and engineering scopes packages.
- Membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or affiliation to another Canadian professional organization is an advantage. Holding a license in the United States is also an advantageous asset.
- Experience in consulting engineering will be considered an asset.
- Experience with an equipment manufacturer will be considered an asset.
- Efficiency, customer focus, autonomy, initiative, ability to work independently and prioritize.
