Position Overview

Our rapidly growing multi-discipline engineering group requires additional intermediate Electrical Engineers that will be focused on our industrial projects for our Industrial and Water Engineering division. If you are looking for a career with a progressive and construction focused engineering group that will provide you the opportunities to work in a wide range of industrial projects including markets such as Food & Beverage, Consumer Products, Heavy Manufacturing, Industrial Buildings, Industrial Water and Utilities, this position is for you. Current projects underway include the design of renewable natural gas, lithium processing and water treating facilities as well as the design of numerous industrial buildings.

Location

These positions are based out of Calgary AB and Laval QC but alternate base locations will be considered. 
 

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to design medium to large industrial projects.
  • Formulate technical specifications and prepare interface points with construction partners. 
  • Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with other project personnel, performing bid evaluations of equipment and construction proposals and developing recommendations for contract award. 
  • Prepare electrical engineering designs, including layout, design schematics, calculations and conceptual designs, utilizing standard methods and project principles. 
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed.
  • Work independently on small projects, or as a part of a large multi-discipline team on larger projects, including working with both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction partners to provide our clients the industry’s best of both engineering and physical design

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years’ experience performing Power, Industrial, or Food & Beverage engineering related duties
  • Functional in utilizing spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and computer operations.
  • Experience in field construction or startup and previous experience directing junior engineers is desirable Familiar with basic computer operation
  • Familiar with all applicable standards (ANSI, IEEE, IEC, UL, NEC, CEC, etc).
  • Able to perform voltage drop calculations, equipment sizing calculations, and grounding calculations.
  • Experience with ETAP, EZ-Power or similar electrical analysis software preferred 
  • Able calculate and select cable tray systems.
  • Able to determinate facility, transformer, bus and motor control center loading.
  • Able to perform lightning calculations. 
  • Able to read, understand and develop electrical schematic diagrams 
  • Able to formulate technical specifications for LV MCC, LV SWGR, MV MCC, MV SWGR, UPS, VFD, etc.  
  • Professional Engineering (PEng) designation is required; OIQ membership or eligibility for OIQ membership is also required. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication in both French and English.
  • Experience with electrical equipment (Transformers, Switchgear, Cables, MCCs, Panelboards) sizing and specification preferred
