Kiewit Eastern Canada is currently looking for an entry-level Business Specialist. This person will be part of the project management team and will need to possess the skills to manage a fast-paced construction office. The ideal candidate must be able to meet deadlines and contribute to a positive, safe, high-quality culture.  The construction industry is a fast-paced environment that requires decision-making and problem-solving skills.  Critical components of the job are:  extensive involvement in the operation of the cost control system and detailed analysis of construction costs.

Responsibilities

  • Transactional accounting (payroll, payables, receivables)
  • Job cost management and reporting
  • Purchasing
  • Human resources including employment law and labor compliance
  • Environmental compliance
  • Subcontract administration
  • Tax issues
  • Business law as it relates to our operations (prompt payment, liens, etc.)


Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, business, economics, finance or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Must possess knowledge of basic accounting functions
  • Must possess knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Works independently as well as part of a team
  • Must be willing and able to travel and relocate
  • Must be a self-starter, willing to do what it takes to get the job done
