Position Overview

As a Survey Party Chief, you will play an integral role in establishing and maintaining methods for safe, accurate, and efficient Survey Field Operations in support of the construction of the BAE Systems Shiplift project in Jacksonville, FL

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibility:

As a Survey Party Chief You will have responsibilities over maintaining an accurate schedule, mentoring and training field personnel, plan and model review, and field survey operations. The Survey Party Chief should plan to spend 80% - 100% of his/her time in the field performing survey field operations.

Responsibilities:

•    Implementing the project survey plan specific to field operations in communication with the project team
•    Understanding the ongoing operational requirements (layout) as well as project closeout criteria
•    Create, review, and ensure the accuracy of files prior to being used in the field for calculations or layout purposes
•    Ensure and maintain accurate recordkeeping and legible field notes throughout the project lifecycle
•    The Setting and maintenance of the project control network.
•    Perform discipline specific layout for the control of construction on the project
•    Oversee the operation with periodic reviews of record keeping, field procedures and participate in survey audits to ensure that all work is performed in an efficient and professional manner
•    Establish regular meetings with the project team to understand schedule and prioritize layout
 

Qualifications

•    Minimum of three (3) year’s demonstrable experience in Construction Survey, Dimensional Control, Industrial Measurement, or a related field is required
•    Trimble Survey Hardware and Trimble Business Center experience is a plus
•    Knowledge of Trimble Machine Control systems, ability to upload and download files, and basic modeling skills a plus
•    Must be able to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to perform calculations (area, volume, circumference, proportion, percentage)
•    Dynamic thinker with the desire to lead, motivate, and mentor teams
•    Self-starter with the ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity
•    Proficient computer knowledge including Microsoft Suite
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    Strong work ethic with the ability to work individually and as a team
•    Committed to working safe and getting the job done right the first time

•    Must be willing to work 50-60 hours per week, along with weekends, as required by the schedule
•    May work at various locations from time to time where conditions may vary

Working Conditions

•    Will manage a diverse workload; must be able to handle changes in the work environment and remain flexible while accommodating project needs
•    Must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management
•    Occasionally lift and move objects up to 30 pounds
•    Must be able to work regularly scheduled hours and occasional irregular hours
