Position Overview
Based in a district office, the Transportation & Logistics Specialist I (Trucking) execute the strategies and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) established by the logistics team and supports Procurement Shared Services in the implementation of Kiewit Procurement transportation and logistics procedures. Provide local support for procurement, import, export, transportation, and fulfillment in support of internal customers. This involves close collaboration with 3PL (Third Party Logistics and Trucking companies) Transportation Coordinators. This position provides key information and support to Procurement and Project Management regarding supply, deliveries and order status from suppliers to internal customers

Responsibilities
• Interact with internal and external customers via phone and email to provide information about distribution routes, schedules, and delivery status
• Identify the most cost effective and timely transportation options for the customer
• Select shipment routes, based on nature of goods shipped, transit times, or security needs.
• Arrange for special transport of sensitive cargoes, such as engineered equipment.
• Enter shipment information into software to create shipping documents and coordinate the shipment for all domestic and international trucking shipments as specified by Standard Operating Procedures.
• Track shipment to final destination to ensure timely delivery
• Update the customer on delivery status and inform them of any delays or obstacles with their cargo
• Assist estimating and projects with providing quotes when needed
• Maintain positive relationships and work productively with other departments (internally and externally) to provide expert advice to potential internal customers
• Resolve internal customer complaints quickly with sensitivity and always portrays the company and our vendors in a positive manner. Build and Maintain relationships by exhibiting exceptional customer service skills.
• Ensure documentation is accurately processed, distributed and released to carrier, forwarders, customers and agents in a timely manner. Ensure proper transit and customs clearance documentation exists for shipments.

Qualifications

A four-year college or university degree in related materials transportation, logistics or expediting field; or an associate degree plus two years of experience in a related materials transportation, logistics or expediting management field; or a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) plus 5 years of experience in a related materials transportation, logistics or expediting position is preferred.
• SAP Knowledge is a plus
