Position Overview

As an Environmental Coordinator for Kiewit, you will provide expertise, implement policies and procedures, ensure compliance, supervise efforts on construction projects, and mentor/develop other employees to support environmental functions at both the project and corporate level.

District Overview

Kiewit’s Central District is one of our largest infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, structural concrete/bridge, water/wastewater, and transportation projects. We self-perform work such as mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more - so be ready to get your hands dirty! While headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the majority of our work is concentrated in the Central and South-Central regions of the United States. We are looking for people committed to the construction industry rather than design.  

Location

This person will support a project in Memphis, TN initially. After completion of the project in a few years, must be willing to relocate within Central District states (TN, KY, CO, MN, NM, NE) as needed. This position is a full-time field project position.  

Responsibilities

  • Implement programs and procedures to assure the compliance of the site with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Supervise job environmental processes and address any concerns at the job level.
  • Assist supervisors, managers, and others in obtaining and maintaining environmental permits.
  • Oversee contractual and regulatory compliance requirements onsite daily.
  • Develop and implement environmental training programs.
  • Manage air monitoring program and complete regular reporting (daily, weekly, monthly) to client and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, or related field.
  • At least 1 year of demonstrated work experience related to the areas of responsibility for environmental compliance within the construction industry.
  • Major heavy civil infrastructure and/or transportation construction projects or similar is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of environmental codes, standards, and compliance.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Power Point, Word, Excel) and other relevant software systems.
  • Strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives.

Base Compensation: $72,000/yr - $84,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
