Kiewit’s Western Canada District is headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia.  We primarily perform heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, bridges, water resources, and underground utilities. Some marquee projects we have built in Western Canada include the George Massey Tunnel, Sea to Sky Highway, Port Mann Bridge, most recently and the Trans Mountain Expansion Project.

Position Overview

Kiewit's Schedulers ensures projects are completed on time and budget by directly impacting the scheduling outcome, from estimate through project completions. By analyzing, monitoring, and maintaining the projects’ progress, you’ll prepare and analyze reports, develop alternative solutions, and be a key team member in driving successful project completion.  This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including project managers, contractors, and subcontractors.

Location

This position will be based full-time in our Burnaby District Office. Travel to our project sites may be required.  #LI-RP1 

Responsibilities

  • Project Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules for various projects using scheduling software (Primavera P6, Tilos, InEight)
  • Resource Allocation: Resource load schedules, including lists of activities, major milestones, critical approvals, long lead procurement items and other critical project deliverables to be scheduled and tracked for the project.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential scheduling conflicts, bottlenecks, and delays, and propose solutions to mitigate these risks. Regularly update schedules to reflect changes and adjustments.
  • Communication: Facilitate clear and effective communication between project stakeholders to ensure everyone is aligned with the project schedule and milestones.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor project progress and identify variances from the schedule. Implement corrective actions and adjustments as necessary to keep projects on track.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project schedules, progress reports, and any changes made throughout the construction process.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that projects are completed in accordance with quality standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Cost Control: Collaborate with the project management team to manage project budgets and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present reports on project progress, delays, and potential issues to management and other relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience as a Scheduler in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in project scheduling software including Primavera P6.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Understanding of budgeting and cost control.

Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 

  • Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location
