Position Overview

The DOT Compliance Specialist will work closely with the DOT Compliance Manager and be responsible for overseeing all aspects of development, implementation, standardization, and management of the Transportation Compliance Program for the assigned location(s). Additionally, the DOT Compliance Specialist will regularly monitor and assist with driver qualification, pre-employment, post-accident, random, and reasonable suspicion drug testing, Hours of Service records and driver training.

This position is located in Albany, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of development, implementation, standardization, and management of the Transportation Compliance Program for the assigned location(s)
  • Regularly monitor and assist with driver qualification, pre-employment, post-accident, random, and reasonable suspicion drug testing, Hours of Service records and driver training
  • Evaluate and monitor all driver compliance and non-compliance issues, ensuring non-compliance issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Assist with incident investigations, root-cause analysis, follow-up, and closure of action items
  • Review Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) daily, identify and resolve DVIR issues
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of district and project management, Regional Transportation Compliance Managers, staff, and craft employees
  • Work with drivers and management to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations
  • Review, document and analyze all interactions with regulatory entities to include; crashes, roadside inspection violations and citations
  • Prepare, analyze, and disseminate detailed reports from the Company’s ELD and telematics system
  • Work within Company data systems to record and track equipment maintenance and utilization
  • Serve as the point of contact for all regulated vehicles and drivers for the assigned location(s)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in Transportation Compliance
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Federal and State trucking regulations, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations; a working knowledge of the DOT Letters of Interpretation and other Regulatory Guidance a plus.
  • GeoTab ELD experience (preferred)
  • Strong leadership, organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments with limited supervision.
  • Self-starter, ability to prioritize and organize projects and assignments with limited supervision.
  • A learner’s attitude that consistently demonstrates curiosity and flexibility.
  • Ability to give and receive feedback in a constructive and positive manner.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to read, analyze and interpret regulations and other regulatory documents.
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency and working knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, establish priorities, and accomplish goals and objectives within given timelines
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary

Base Compensation: $80,000 - $95,000

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
