Position Overview
As a Payroll Specialist for Kiewit, you will provide high-quality support and outstanding customer service to business functions and process a high volume of time and payroll-related requests. Primary tasks include clerical functions for project specific payroll. This position requires deadline driven work products and the ability to be flexible to support other business-related tasks as needed. This position will be an essential member of the payroll process and team to support Kiewit’s core business activities.
District Overview
Kiewit’s Eastern District specializes in challenging heavy civil construction projects throughout the Northeast, including the metropolitan areas of New York, Chicago, Boston, and Washington DC. We are leaders in bridge, transit, foundation, tunnel, and water/wastewater construction while specializing in cast-in-place concrete, structural steel erection, earthwork, pile driving, and caissons. Kiewit’s Eastern District also has a large amount of work in the energy/power sector in various northeast locations. With our experienced and dedicated employees, extensive resources and in-depth market knowledge, the Eastern District can handle projects of any size.
Location
This position will be based in our Woodcliff Lake, NJ office.
Responsibilities
- Pre and post payroll audits.
- Process time and payroll related requests such as pay additions, cost moves, time/PTO entry, overtime rules setup, and others.
- Develop strong relationships with field personnel and provide excellent time and payroll support.
- Understand Kiewit’s core business and demonstrate a sense of urgency toward business-critical issues.
- Understand and follow processes, procedures, and internal controls.
- Support and participate in collaboration activities to promote and implement continuous process improvement.
- Perform other job-related tasks as needed.
- Involve Payroll Compliance when necessary.
Qualifications
- 1+ year(s) of relevant work experience, or previous experience working in Administrative or Customer Service Experience roles.
- College degree within a business or related field is preferred.
- Previous SAP work experience is a plus.
- Ability to work on a project/job site.
- Ability to work Monday – Friday, daily working hours of 7:30 – 4:30, with some additional hours (+/-4) necessary over the weekend as needed depending on workload & project.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly motivated and self-directed.
- Attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Ability to understand and follow process and controls.
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish assigned work.
- Excellent customer service and collaboration skills.
- Ability to connect and build relationships with others both inside and outside of the organization.

Base Compensation: $50,000/yr - $62,500/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
