Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Engineering Services During Construction Manager (ESDC). This job will be located in our new New York City office with the opportunity for flexible work.  You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department and support our Project Design Manager and staff.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design Build Management team are driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects to manage their multi-disciplined design teams to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Location

This role is based out of our Woodcliff, NJ /Future NYC office, with travel required as needed to other Kiewit office and project locations.  Opportunities for flexible work are available.

 

Responsibilities

•    Implements the ESDC Management Plan, reporting to Project Design Manager or Project Manager
•    Facilitates effective communication between remote design staff and on-site project staff
•    Plans and coordinates design activities in support of construction operations, including utilizing project’s electronic document management system to manage backlog of ESDC activities
•    Has a detailed understanding of all contractual obligations and meets for the project to ensure design requirements of the contract.
•    Interfaces with Client’s design oversight manager and coordinates client review and approvals
•    Provide financial and schedule management, disbursement tracking, progress payment tracking 
•    Supports shop drawing review approval for extension of design
•    Coordinate and validates design and field changes
•    Evaluate and coordinate requests for information (RFI’s)
•     Supports construction operations planning and project scheduling
•     Understands construction schedule to prioritize design activities and plan engineering staff resources 
•    Connects appropriate Kiewit Engineering specialists to the project
•    Administers subconsultant designer subcontracts and task orders
•    Leads on-site ESDC field engineers, and supports and coordinates with project field engineers and temporary structures engineers
•    Participates in project risk identification and mitigation
•     Identifies opportunities for process improvement and captures lessons learned
•    Coordinate as-built plans and O&M manual approval
 

Qualifications

•    8+ years’ experience in major infrastructure and/or architectural projects design and/or construction, minimum 3 years design-build experience
•    Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) preferred
•    Strong organizational and time management skills
•    Prior work experience on managing transportation project valuing $1M+
•    Strong written and verbal communications skills
•    Attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
•    Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done
•    Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
•    Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
•    Ability to travel as business requires
