Position Overview
Kiewit is seeking an Environmental Specialist to support its construction operations our projects. This role involves ensuring environmental compliance, managing permits, and supporting field teams with environmental requirements.
District Overview
Kiewit Bridge & Marine, headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, is a general contractor specializing in heavy civil, marine and industrial work throughout the United States and Canada. We pride ourselves in being a leader in technical bridge construction, including cable-stayed bridges, suspension bridges and cast-in-place/precast segmental bridges for water crossings, highway flyovers, pedestrian access, light rail guideways and other transportation infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Monitor, forecast, and communicate environmental costs at the project level.
- Identify and obtain necessary permits; manage them via the Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Develop tracking matrices for environmental requirements.
- Review and interpret environmental specifications and drawings.
- Understand and apply state and local environmental regulations.
- Prepare site-specific environmental plans and submit required reports.
- Participate in project planning meetings and provide input.
- Communicate environmental requirements to field crews.
- Identify materials and vendors needed for environmental compliance.
- Conduct environmental training and field inspections.
- Organize data management processes and support production operations.
- Coordinate with internal and external agencies regarding environmental procedures.
- Implement project-wide environmental compliance strategies.
- Maintain records and monitor compliance tools.
- Identify applicable federal, state, and local environmental requirements (e.g., hazardous waste, air quality, stormwater, spill plans).
Qualifications
- Prior experience as an environmental coordinator may be required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Interest in EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) in construction.
- Solid technical knowledge of environmental regulations.
- Experience in setting up training programs.
- Proficiency with computers and standard software.
- Effective communication skills.

Base Compensation: $72,000/yr - $84,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
