District Overview

Kiewit’s Northwest District is headquartered in Vancouver, Washington.  We primarily perform heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, water resources, and underground utilities. We are looking for hard working individuals with a passion for construction who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty! This district pursues work across the entire west coast including Alaska and Hawaii. 

Location

Initial Project location is Klamath Falls Oregon.  We offer relocation assistance to our projects.

Responsibilities

Manage implementation of the contractor Quality Control Plan for self-perform construction with authority to act in all CQC matters as the GC.  Expected to be on site at all times, during construction.  Drive support in the development and implementation of the project Quality Plan.
Conduct QC Plan meetings, as well as interact with Company, district and project management, staff, and craft to guide successful outcomes on the projects.
Manage all 3rd party subcontractors, an internal robust quality control staff, oversee inspections and perform those in the field as necessary.  
Conduct the minimum of three phases (Preparatory, Initial and Follow up) of control for each definable feature of the construction work.
Overall responsibility and oversight for quality aspects of the project, including management of all quality control personnel and reporting as required. 

Qualifications

Ability to travel and relocate as needed 
BS Degree in Quality Management, Construction, Engineering, or related field, with 10 years or more experience in Quality roles, with at least 5 years as a Quality Manager in heavy civil construction. Experience in Self-perform heavy civil construction (i.e., concrete, grading, earthwork, structural, pipelines) is required
Must have working knowledge of construction industry codes as applicable (ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC, etc.) as well as applicable certifications. Ability and willingness to perform QC Inspections is required.  Experience with Federal Contracts is required, and ability to develop and implement 3 phase Quality control plans.
Self-starter with advanced organizational, managerial, communication and leadership skills. 
Completion of the Construction Quality Management (CQM) for contractor course within the last five (5) years, or the ability and willingness to obtain the CQM for Contractors course certification within 90 days of onboarding.
Verifiable experience as an approved Construction Quality Control Manager on Heavy Civil projects.
Experience leading and managing a quality control staff.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills is required.
Strives to achieve perfect quality performance on all projects and add value to expand our quality program

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Must be able to move freely about a construction site that at times present a demanding terrain including, but not limited to, climbing of ladders and stair towers, uneven and often wet surfaces, and slopes.
Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
