Position Overview

This position is an exciting opportunity to join Kiewit and the Union Station Enhancement Project (USEP): the first project delivered as an Alliance in Canada to support the GO expansion in the GTA. The mandate of this role is to ensure that the design models are aligned with the delivery and construction team requirements and to efficiently support the procurement, fabrication, and construction processes on USEP.


The BIM Specialist will federate the design models and facilitate coordination meetings with the construction team to ensure all constructability issues have been identified and resolved within the design phase. In addition, the BIM specialist will also be responsible to generate quantity reports and develop 4D animation. #LI-HM1

This position is based out of our Toronto Office.



Skills required for this position are:

  • Strong knowledge of BIM software (Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, BIM360, BIMTrack, Cintoo, etc).
  • Analytical mind, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Data management skills
  • 4D modeling proficiency (Fuzor, Synchro, Navisworks, etc)
  • Scripting knowledge such as Python or Dynamo would be an asset




  • Deploy BIM/VDC related software to perform various project duties.
  • Collaborate with the project team, designers and trade partners to support the development of project documentation and develop construction site logistics models.
  • Assist in developing workflows and procedures, and train other project staff and subcontractors on VDC/BIM related software as required.
  • Assist in model navigation and development to facilitate the visualization of issues and solutions with the construction team and identify constructability and operability issues with the delivery team.
  • Lead model coordination meetings and set up the trade partner model coordination process to ensure constructability and operability during the delivery phase.
  • Recognize opportunities for construction technologies and implement them on the project, training the future users and ensuring technology dissemination
  • Work with the project team to develop schedule visualization workflows, prepare 4D simulations, and guide site team on the workflows ensuring their skills are up to the required level.
  • Generate model reports, manage the data and create a presentation on the missing or inconsistent information
  • Assist in generating quantities from the design & construction model to support the procurement team.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and/or technical diplomas 
  • Minimum of 5 years of Construction BIM experience with strong software skills including Navisworks, BIM360, Revit, Civil 3D, Synchro, Fuzor, Dynamo, etc
  • Great verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different teams
  • Strong analytical mind, problem solving skills and detail oriented
  • Ability to work with deadlines and prioritize work
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing (MEP expertise would be an asset)
  • Strong ability to work with databases and generate PowerBI dashboards
  • Proficient in developing scripts to support model delivery, planning, 4D modeling
  • Ability to read and understand 2D and 3D construction drawings and specifications and translate 2D drawings and specifications into a complete 3D/4D Building Information Model.
