CAD Technician, Eastern Canada District

Position

We are currently looking for a CAD Technician to support our Surveying team in Toronto. The CAD Technician will work closely with designers, survey managers, and surveyors but will also work independently resolving issues between drawings and creating as-built reports, as-built drawings, calculations, and more.

About Kiewit

Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. They serve the construction and mining industries and operates in Eastern Canada. 

Responsibilities

•    Build 2D and 3D models from a variety of information sources 
•    Assist in preparation of construction work plans, project planning and scheduling 
•    Review drawings and make changes based on field input from segment Project Managers and Project Engineers
•    Optimize grading/ earthworks quantities 
•    Perform concrete formwork and lift drawings
•    Perform detailed quantity takeoffs in 3D from the models for estimating purposes and / or to support progress claims during construction
•    Work within a team to model alternate scenarios and / or develop step by step construction plans and presentation materials
•    Prepare Survey and Machine Control files for construction
•    Perform other related duties as assigned or requested 

Qualifications

•    A Geomatics, Survey, Engineering degree or diploma with experience in the construction industry
•    Experience in infrastructure or transit an asset
•    Experienced in CAD programs such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD is required and experience in Revit is an asset
•    Avid user of Excel and computer-savvy
•    Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
•    Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
•    Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
•    Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt
•    Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills 
•    Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives
•    Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
