Position Overview

Based in a district office, the Transportation / Trucking Manager executes the strategies and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) to support Kiewit’s Supply Network Shared Services group in the implementation of transportation and logistics procedures. 


Responsible for overseeing Kiewit’s Over the Road (OTR) logistics transportation-related activities. In this role, you will be keeping track of transportation operations and ensuring that all policies, procedures, and safety rules are followed.


To be a successful Transportation / Trucking Manager, you should possess exceptional leadership skills and maintain the company's high standard of customer service. Ultimately, the Manager should be able to display extensive knowledge of transportation management systems and have excellent data analytical skills as well as drive extensive KPI’s.

This position is based out of our office in The Woodlands, TX OR Houston, TX (Energy Corridor).  This is a shared service environment in a professional office setting.


•Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking of goods
•Planning, organizing, and managing subordinate staff members to ensure work is completed and consistent with the company's standards
•Directing investigations to verify and resolve internal customer complaints
•Collaborating with staff members to formulate and implement transportation-related procedures as well as teams cost and performance goals and objectives
•Negotiate spot rates with 3PL’s. 
•Complying with transportation-related policies, as well as safety rules, union contracts, and government regulations.
•Promoting safe work activities by conducting safety audits and attending company safety meetings.
•Communicates standard logistics metrics and reports weekly to the stakeholders regarding engineered equipment and material delivery status.
•Communicates & reinforces logistics plans. Maintains clear communication & close co-operation with the Project, Procurement, & Project Sites. Works with Quality, Planning, Construction, Carriers and Customers to proactively avoid & resolve quality & service issues relating to logistics.
•Generates & implements innovations for logistical competitive advantage, Support the Logistics Team.
•Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations, or other factors that could affect freight shipping. 
•Responsible for the OTR process and transactions
•Strong data gathering and analysis background in order to set goals and maintain KPI’s and standards
•This position may require up to 25% travel.


•Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel) and Power BI
•Bachelor’s degree in related major plus five years experience in a related logistics/transportation field OR an Associate degree in related major plus ten years experience in a related logistics/transportation field OR a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) plus 15 years experience in a related logistics/transportation field.
•Must have a broad working knowledge of all principles and methods for moving materials by road including relative costs and benefits 
•Strong knowledge of international logistics, cost estimating, US and Canada domestic trucking and international logistics is a plus
•Broad knowledge of construction equipment is preferred
•Detail oriented, flexible, and highly motivated with a strong work ethic and professional demeanor 
•Effective time management and organizational skills
•Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
•Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
•Must be team player but able to work independently to meet intense deadlines, goals, and objectives
