Position Overview

As a Senior Construction Scheduler for Kiewit, you will mostly be considered the lead scheduler on our projects. As a subject matter expert in this field, you will perform planning and scheduling activities on large and small construction projects within the water market. This hands-on role will give you the opportunity to directly impact scheduling outcomes, from estimate through project completions, over a broad range of projects. Kiewit integrates project controls functions such as budget, costs, manpower tracking, and project progress within our schedules, giving you the opportunity to collaborate with various project and company teams. This person will also be tasked with daily/monthly report generation for executive management. By directing the planning, creation, monitoring, and maintenance of projects’ progress, you will prepare and analyze reports, develop alternative solutions, and be a key team member in driving successful project completions.

Kiewit's Water Facilities South group is one of Kiewit's leading water/wastewater (W/WW) districts specializing in construction of water or wastewater treatment facilities, regular maintenance of these facilities, desalination plants, and providing state of the art facilities with new technologies. We are headquartered in Westlake, TX (DFW area), with regional offices in Miami, Tampa, and Atlanta. With this network of resources, we can pursue various alternative delivery projects throughout the southern U.S region and partner with other internal resources for other projects across the United States as well. Location

This person will work on site at a large water construction project in Taylor, TX (northeast of Austin) and travel as needed to our corporate office in Westlake, TX (the DFW area) – travel expenses would be covered by Kiewit. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop fully resource loaded schedules including lists of activities, major milestones, critical approvals, long lead procurement items, and other critical project deliverables to be scheduled and tracked for the project.
  • Develop and maintain schedule logic and constraints, realistic activity durations, available manpower, and resources based on industry and company standards.
  • Provide scheduling analysis for delays and impacts (Time Impact Analysis) to identify and mitigate project risks and assist with change management procedures.
  • Assist in the management of internal controls including implementing new process controls, measuring project performance, reporting on project status, and ensuring the integrity and validity of internally and externally disseminated information.
  • Gain and apply knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction terminology to develop and maintain critic path logic networks and accumulate/access historical data for use in maintaining realistic future planning and forecasting.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult project control problems.
  • Collaborate effectively with various project teams, field personnel, and clients to create accurate reports and achieve goals.
  • Attend regular in-person meetings and give regular reporting as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Undergraduate Degree in engineering, construction management, data management, business, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in scheduling, project controls, office/field engineering, or other scheduling focused positions within the construction industry.
  • Professional certifications, such as Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP), is encouraged.
  • Expertise with Primavera (P6) scheduling.
  • Ability to proactively collaborate with different project teams and personnel to gather data and meet project goals.
  • Must be computer proficient and be able to adapt to new programs, innovations, and processes. 
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills are needed to prepare and assist with preparation of baseline narratives, monthly updates, and TIA’s.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, effective time management, strong attention to detail, and good organizational skills.
