Position Overview

As a Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in leading and managing both the administrative and technical elements of our construction projects. Your expertise will guide a talented team of field and cost engineers, ensuring the successful execution of projects while upholding high standards for quality and safety. This position not only allows you to act as the primary conduit of information between the construction manager and your team but also offers an exciting opportunity to develop and mentor junior engineers. In this collaborative environment, your contributions will be vital for achieving project goals and fostering the growth of less experienced team members.

District Overview

Kiewit's Southeast District specializes in heavy civil, transportation and water resource markets, and has played a significant role in building infrastructure throughout the fast-growing southeastern United States. Since the 1970s, we have built projects from Maryland to Florida and west to Louisiana. Our operations include highways, airports, mass transit, tunnels, water and wastewater facilities, dams and infrastructure work 

Location

Position is based in our Tampa, FL office location.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project scheduling and ensure adherence to timelines, enabling on-time project completion.
  • Effectively manage project revenue, expenses, and cash flow to ensure financial success.
  • Oversee both temporary engineering needs and permanent design management efforts to align with project specifications.
  • Implement quality control measures and proactively monitor project processes to maintain high standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate smooth project closeout procedures, ensuring all deliverables are met and documentation is complete.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, promptly addressing client needs and expectations to foster satisfaction.
  • Contribute to operations planning and strategic decision-making processes that drive project success.
  • Administer contracts and subcontracts diligently, ensuring compliance and performance standards are met throughout the project's duration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or other related fields.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in construction or engineering, with a strong emphasis on heavy civil construction projects.
  • Demonstrable experience managing engineering teams and delivering successful projects.
  • A proven ability to read, analyze, and identify discrepancies in engineering plans, specifications, and contract documentation.
  • A strong work ethic with a passion for excellence and commitment to promoting a culture of safety.
  • Exhibit high integrity and ethical standards in all aspects of work.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills that enhance team collaboration and client interactions.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to meet deadlines and achieve project milestones.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
