Position Overview

Kiewit’s Southeast District is headquartered in Peachtree City, GA.  We primarily perform heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, and underground utilities, while developing builders who will lead the company into the future.
We are currently looking for a Civil/Structure Superintendent to supervise the structural work for our infrastructure projects in Tampa, FL.  In this position, you will be the region’s subject matter expert in all things structural such as walls, box culverts, bridges, CIP vaults, etc. You will lead crews to complete these projects while setting the highest expectations for safety, quality, schedule, cost performance, and team development. 
 

District Overview

Kiewit's Southeast District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include building bridges, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams, pump stations or tunnels.  Although most of our work is regionally based in the southeast region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the east coast. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to design.

Responsibilities

•    Lead an effective discipline team, delegating responsibilities and setting goals to ensure the production of high-quality work that meets the requirements of company policies, procedures, industry standards, and client expectations.
•    Assist in the hiring, training, and development of craft personnel.
•    Develop and maintain open communications with Crews, Field Engineers/Coordinators, Safety QA/QC, and Clients.
•    Liaise with field engineers to ensure construction complies with drawings, specifications, and all contractual requirements
•    Assist in preparing and executing work plans, manpower levels, material quantities, schedules, and equipment requirements.
•    Monitor the unit man-hour performance report on a weekly basis.
•    Monitor job schedule to ensure it’s on track and coordinate work with contractors and deliveries with suppliers and ensure inspections are scheduled appropriately. 
•    Examine/inspect field conditions and troubleshoot problems, correct inaccuracies, and implement cost saving measures. 
•    Monitor and adhere to established budgetary guidelines for job, and ensure that cost control measures are being followed.  
•    Provide job safety training and proactively identify safety hazards in the workplace creating safety awareness and taking all necessary corrective action. 
•    Oversee quality standards and ensure that all quality assurance and company standards are being met.  
•    Inform senior leadership and/or project management of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc.  and assist in troubleshooting these issues. 
•    Perform other job-related duties as requested by your supervisor
 

Qualifications

•    Over 8 + years of experience in the construction industry for infrastructure projects 
•    Must have at least 5 years experience of supervisory experience as a Superintendent.
•    A subject matter expert in the infrastructure structural discipline (grading, earthwork, structures, walls, box culverts, bridges, CIP vaults, etc.). 
•    Understanding of cost management processes, planning, and scheduling.
•    Working knowledge of computers and experience using Microsoft Office Suite. 
•    Experience in managing up to 20 craft employees at a time. 
•    Effective oral and written communication skills.
•    Strong organization/time management skills.
•    Work independently as well as part of a team.
•    Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
•    Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skills.
•    Exhibits integrity & ethical behavior in all things; understands Kiewit's ethics policy of knowing and acting within policies and practices.

Working Conditions

•    Fast-paced construction operation; must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management while simultaneously manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively; regularly sit, stand, walk and talk and listen; must be able to freely access all points of a construction site in wide ranging clients and move up objects up to 30 pounds.
