Position Overview

As a Mechanical Process Superintendent in Kiewit’s Water Facilities South District, your responsibilities will include – Perform daily inspections of work for Safety, Quality, and Productivity, and others. Assure proper planning and communication occurs across all operations and personnel that you oversee. Establish budgetary guidelines for the job and ensure that cost control measures are being followed. Provide job safety training and awareness for all personnel. Develop and manage job schedules (e.g., three-week, 90-day, man loading), coordinate work with other crafts, departments, contractors, and suppliers, and manage/maintain engineering equipment related to discipline.

Kiewit's Water Facilities South group is one of Kiewit's leading water/wastewater districts specializing in constructing water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, and desalination plants. Although we are headquartered in Westlake, TX (DFW area), with regional offices in Miami FL and Atlanta GA, we also pursue various projects stretching across the country.   • Mentor and help to grow fellow Kiewit staff.
  • Manage sub-contractors related to mechanical process discipline.
  • Manage, maintain, and oversee engineering equipment relating to discipline.
  • Review, supervise, and evaluate test procedures and coordinate testing activities for assigned mechanical systems on the project.
  • Review and approve the balance of Foremen, journeymen, and laborers’ composite labor rates.
  • Manage contract administration (subcontractor/field management meeting for communications).
  • Implement and maintain a program to ensure good client relations involving staff on site.
  • Initiate and attend supplementary and regular meetings with client for problem resolution and planning.
  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections.
  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders.
  • Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover.
  • Maintain daily diary for record keeping purposes.
  • Ensure that all performance evaluations are completed in a timely fashion for direct reports.
  • Recommend, where appropriate, organizational, procedural, and/or staff changes.
  • Review and approve/reject promotions up to General Foreman.


  • At least 5 years of work experience within the construction industry, with at least 3 years being in a supervisory type role working on industrial, infrastructure (dams, water/wastewater treatment plants, etc.), or related projects.
  • Extensive knowledge/experience in construction piping and mechanical methods, processes, etc. is required.
  • Past experience managing sub-contractors related to mechanical process discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate performance.
  • Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skills with the ability to motivate and manage crews.
  • Must be able to access all points of a construction site.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and general file management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
