Position Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineer is seeking a Senior Traction Power Engineer to support the rapid growth of the rails transit systems section and projects around the country. The person will work under the direction of the Rail Electrification department manager, perform preliminary engineering and/or detail engineering design for traction power system for people mover, light rail, heavy rail, and commuter rails systems, develop engineering cost estimate to support company pursuits, mentor and train early career professionals, and provide leadership to engineering and CAD design staffs.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Location
This position is based out of our San Jose, CA or McLean, VA location with opportunity to work a hybrid work schedule based on the individual's experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Develop electrical traction power system model and perform load flow analysis for the traction power systems.
- Develop preliminary engineering design and detail engineering design for traction power systems for people mover, light rail, heavy rail, and commuter rails systems.
- Develop engineering cost estimates.
- Oversees completeness and accuracy of design team’s work.
- Supervises and guides team to overall project objectives. Mentor new team members to further build internal self-perform capabilities for electrical traction power and electrical facility power systems.
- Provides senior-level technical expertise to client on project aspects within the discipline.
- Develops relationships with clients as a strong team leader with high integrity and professionalism
- Ability to select technology, devices, equipment and/or components to meet performance requirements.
- Assess and manage potential outside design consultants.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or related fields.
- Mater degree is preferred.
- 8+ years' engineering experience with focus on electrical traction power design in Rail & Transit industry.
- Licensed professional engineer or ability to obtain PE license in 6 months.
- Experience in traction power simulation, preliminary, and detail design.
- Experienced in develop engineering cost estimate for traction power projects.
- Familiar with industrial standards and codes.
- Ability to guide and mentor early career professional.
- Ability to travel as business requires.

Base Compensation: $150,000 - $170,000
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
