We are adding Construction Field Engineers to our team in our Northern California region.  Are you ready to work on Landmark projects and make an impact? That's what we do at Kiewit! So, if you're looking for more than a job, look no further. - we are adding Field Engineers to our team to support major Heavy Civil Projects in Northern California!  As a Field Engineer II, you will be the primary lead engineer on the Project, and report directly to the Project Manager. In this role, you will be expected to be a job-site leader in health and safety, ensuring quality of reporting and workmanship, and that all engineering work is completed in a professional and ethical manner. Your functions will include both office engineering functions like contract administration, project planning and scheduling, and project reporting, as well as Field Engineering/Resident Engineering functions.  

District Overview

Kiewit’s Northern California District is one of Kiewit’s leading infrastructure districts specializing in various types of work in the heavy civil, power, transportation, and water resource markets. Although most of our work is regionally based in Northern California, we also pursue various projects across the west coast. Our Northern California district has been extremely successful and have over $600 million dollars of work and plan to grow this region by $200 million in 2022.  We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry and seek a long-term career.  

Location

This role will be based at one of our projects sites near San Jose, Milpitas, or Oroville in Northern California. Our head office is based out of Fairfield, CA.

 

Although this opportunity is with Kiewit’s Northern California District, we do work across the United States and require our employees to be open to relocation.  We offer opportunities to work at various locations within the Northern California area, and anticipate future positions in Portland Oregon, and Washington State. We offer relocation assistance to job sites or per diem/travel options, but this role does require you to go where the projects are! 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
  • Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work
  • Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages
  • Assist in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data
  • Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets
  • Assist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s)
  • Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training
  • Order and schedule material deliveries
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite
  • Supervise field operations

Qualifications

  • 2+ years' construction field experience, preferably in Heavy Civil construction (roadway, concrete, asphalt, earthworks, Bridge, Rail, Water or Wastewater)
  • Work experience in engineering and leading engineers
  • Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related
  • Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to travel and relocate as needed
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail

Base Compensation: $95,000 - $125,000 
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
