Position Overview

We are currently accepting applications for an immediate opening for a full time Geotechnical Engineer to be based in the Portsmouth NH area, The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for leading inspections, data collection, and making observations on soil and rock. Completely familiar with Drilled shaft or other deep foundation installation and construction methods.

District Overview

Kiewit’s Eastern District also has a large amount of work in the energy/power sector in various northeast locations. Location

This position is based in the Portsmouth, New Hampshire area.

Responsibilities

•    Observe construction and field activities on site.
•    Perform geotechnical analyses.
•    Collect data, information, and gathers documents.
•    Prepare and review engineering calculations and data.
•    Communicate effectively and consistently with clients and others.
•    Remain consistently updated of new technical developments and requirements that affect the company and recommends changes to current programs.
•    Represents the company in communications and conferences, and actively participates in industry events and professional societies.
•    Safe operation and handling of company testing equipment and vehicles in accordance with company policies/safety policies.
•    Practice confidentiality according to company policy.
•    In-depth knowledge and use of computer software including MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, geotechnical software, and must be able to learn new programs.
•    Understand and apply advanced, industry related math skills.
•    Ability to meet deadlines.
•    Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
•    Skilled in collecting, analyzing, and organizing complex data.
•    Ability to maintain records of materials, supplies, time, and work performed.
•    Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form.
•    Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
•    Regularly spend long hours sitting/standing and using office equipment and computers.
•    Ability to remember and understand verbal and written instructions. 
•    Ability to reason logically and make high level decisions.
 

Qualifications

•    B.S. Civil Engineering required, with emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology preferred.
•    M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
•    Familiarity with geology and site conditions in New England.
•    Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in 1 or more states required.
•    Minimum of 10 years of related engineering and project management experience, or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions required of Geotechnical Engineer.
•    Valid driver’s license.
•    Applicants must be United States citizens.
