District Overview

Kiewit Southwest District specializes in heavy civil, transportation and water projects, we typically self-perform a large portion of the work. We self-perform almost all of our work - which includes all trades, mass grading, soil compaction, earthworks, drainage, PCCP paving, dry and wet utilities,and asphalt.  We are looking for people committed to the construction industry with safety, quality, costs and schedule in mind.


Currently hiring for Phoenix Arizona region, with future projects starting next year, in the Greater Las Vegas, Nevada Area.  Prefer local candidates in the Arizona and Nevada areas.   


  • Working under a Quality Manager, you will perform inspections on soils, paving, flatwork, electrical, building components, walls, reinforcing steel, and concrete for conformance to requirements
  • Test on soils, concrete, asphalt in lab environment, performing calculations and entering data into systems. 
  • Support team members in their roles as a program focal point for quality assurance, acting as a liaison with other functional departments
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the project scope and schedule as they relate to his/her specific assignment
  • Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems
  • Assist with identifying and reporting rework and non-conforming issue


  • Must have a minimum of 4 years previous experience working as a Quality Inspector in Heavy Civil Construction (Roadway/Bridge/Aviation/Rail/Water/Wastewater).  Ability to travel and relocate as needed
  • Must have experience performing inspections and testing for Civil Construction.  Looking for a self-starter with exceptional organization and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of the specific trade of discipline (i.e. civil, structural, electrical) as assigned, with associated special processes, inspection and testing techniques
  • Current inspections certifications OR having had in the past, inspections certifications issued from WAQTC, CAPA A, CAPA B, CAPA C, CAPA E, ACI Strength are preferred
  • Ability to gain additional certifications to support project testing and inspection
  • Capability to work extended construction hours during high seasons and potential weekend and/or night shifts - we pay overtime! 
  • Interest in growing into a Quality Manager role
