Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects, analyzing project requirements, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.

District Overview

Kiewit's Southeast District specializes in heavy civil, transportation and water resource markets, and has played a significant role in building infrastructure throughout the fast-growing southeastern United States. Since the 1970s, we have built projects from Maryland to Florida and west to Louisiana. Our operations include highways, airports, mass transit, tunnels, water and wastewater facilities, dams and infrastructure work

Responsibilities

•    Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope and requirements.
•    Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and other project-related expenses for large, complex jobs.  
•    Ensure accurate quantity takeoffs and appropriate production rates in estimates.
•    Conduct site investigation prior to forming a plan of operations to identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be present.   
•    Analyze and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
•    Collaborate with peers to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates.
•    Monitor and update cost estimates as project details change.
•    Prepare and present cost reports and summaries to management.
•    Stay abreast of trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods and procedures that are developing in the industry.  
 

Qualifications

•    Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
•    Minimum of 7 years in the Heavy Civil Construction Industry with a mix of field experience and a minimum of three years of estimating.
•    Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and costs.
•    Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Ineight, Microsoft Excel ).
•    Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
•    Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
•    Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•    Strong organizational and time management skills.
