We are hiring a Workers Compensation Claims Manager to manage the resolution of workers’ compensation claims arising out of Kiewit’s construction operations. This is an integral role for our 7 market areas which includes Transportation, Power, Oil and Gas/Petrochemical, Industrial, Mining, Water/Wastewater and Building Construction. As a Workers’ Compensation Claims Manager in the Risk Management & Insurance Department, you will develop, recommend, and implement workers’ compensation policies and procedures. You will interface with the claims team to recommend and implement goals and objectives. You will also support Department, Project and District personnel with claims data management and analysis, providing periodic reports to various internal and external stakeholders. You’ll typically have a wide-range of responsibilities, which include interactions with other Kiewit Home Office departments, and others in the profession including insurance carriers, brokers, and other professional organizations.

Location
This position can be located at any of our major Kiewit office locations in Omaha Nebraska, Lenexa Kansas, or Houston Texas.
Responsibilities
Primary Functions:
• Oversee workers’ compensation claims throughout the Company
• Stay abreast of trends and innovations in the field of workers’ compensation administration and keep current on legislative and regulatory issues at the State and Federal level.
• Interface with District operational personnel and Department leadership regarding claims operations
• Manage workers' compensation litigation budgets, evaluate adequacy of case reserves and advise on adjustments where necessary.
Major Responsibilities:
• Manage complex workers' compensation claims to reduce costs and improve outcomes
• Lead the Company’s review and selection of worker’s compensation counsel
• Review and manage requests for investigations, discovery, and mediation/trial preparation in workers compensation matters.
• Participate in the training and education programs presented by the Department
• Interface with Accounting to facilitate quarterly accounting reserves
Qualifications
BS/BA Undergraduate Degree
Minimum five years of multi-state workers’ compensation insurance claims handling experience; Prefer experience working in a corporate setting, handling internal worker's compensation insurance claims, interfacing with operational teams and employees.
Knowledge of state workers’ compensation laws, rules, regulations, and statutes in multiple jurisdictions and familiarity with U.S.L.&H. and Jones Act claims
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to work independently and communicate risks or potential problems to manager
Proficient with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.
