Position Overview

Kiewit is searching for a talented internship candidate to join its HR Operations team supporting video production needs.  As an intern you will work directly with our Talent Development team to create a wide variety of external and internal communications materials.  


We believe we are one of the premier contractors, which requires us to constantly focus on training and developing our own – as there’s no one else in our industry that has the experience and success of Kiewit.  This internship will allow you to play a key part in ensuring this happens for our People.


A successful candidate must be a fast learner and adept at managing multiple projects and responsibilities at once. Experience and coursework in video production will be crucial for the candidate to be successful in this position. Experience and coursework in instructional design and graphic design is preferred, but not required. Kiewit demands a person with high attention to detail and excellent time management skills to consistently meet deadlines.

District Overview

HR Operations is an integral partner and service provider at Kiewit.  In recent years, we have gone from decentralized HR groups to a unified, shared service team, with various HR Centers of Excellence.  Our vision is to be a best-in-class international HR organization. 


This role will be based out of  Kiewit Headquarters, at 1550 Mike Fahey Street, Omaha, NE.


  • Assisting with all aspects of video, audio and screen recording production, including shooting and editing video
  • Preparing final video files for web, course authoring software (Articulate) or video distribution
  • Brainstorming design and video concepts that support an effective learning experience
  • Supporting video animation projects to create an engaging learning content 
  • Select colors, images, text styles, and layouts that are professional and convey a specific message
  • Assisting with special projects as directed by leadership 


We are seeking a college junior, senior or recent graduate pursuing a degree in instructional design, graphic design, visual arts, video production or a related field of study. The following are basic qualifications for the role:

  • Previous experience with video production
  • Practical experience and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Acrobat Professional) 
  • Strong writing and customer relations skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to think creatively and collaborate on internal and external teams
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects 
  • Desire to learn and adapt to new communication and design principles, tools and technologies
  • Strong skills with peripheral technology, especially digital cameras and video equipment
  • High level of motivation, willingness to learn – a go-getter willing to go the extra mile
  • Willingness to travel 
  • Two years of completed coursework with video production is strongly preferred
