Position Overview

The Data Engineer is responsible for the development of ELT/ETL packages and scripts to move data from source applications to data Platforms for Reporting and Analytic functions.

This position will be based out of our Kiewit Business Center at 12720 I Street, Omaha NE  68137

Responsibilities

  • Creation of scripts and ETL packages that move and process data within the data platforms. (On-prem database management systems / cloud platforms).
  • Review Data Engineering requirements and design solutions based on standards and procedures established by KTG.
  • Works with DBA/Tech Leads to determine additional physical database changes: Indexing options, (Secondary Index, Join Index, Aggregate Join Index) or intermediate table/views.
  • Documents and schedules the data engineering workflows.
  • Resolve any production issues in a timely manner and works with prod support team to share knowledge post hyper care of solutions built.
  • Plays an integral part of an agile delivery team comprising of product owners, project managers/scrum masters, cross functional IT team members including other reporting team members.
  • Participate in Design and Code review sessions to ensure optimal bug free code is deployed to production.

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience writing complex SQL and scripts and having worked in a data engineering environment.
  • Experience implementing data engineering solutions in a cloud data warehouse environment.
  • Experience on ETL pipeline implementation using ADF, Databricks, python.
  • Proven ability to understand complex business rules / processes and design/build data engineering solutions.
  • Experience performance tuning data engineering solutions.
  • Strong commitment to meet deadlines established.
  • Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical staff.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to resolve problems in a professional
  • Proven team player.
  • Passion to keep current and adapt to emerging technologies in the Data Engineering space.
