Position Overview
As a Sr. Data Analyst, you will support the development of business focused data strategies through detailed data analysis. You will analyze data sets to characterize data and help find the root causes of business challenges. You will collaborate with the data team and business stakeholders, help to identify solutions that improve data quality, make data more accessible, and improve the flow of data through business systems.

Location
This position will be based out of our Kiewit Business Center at 12720 I Street. This is a shared service center in a professional office setting.
Responsibilities
Data Profiling:
- Data format, size, content, volume, velocity
- Link technical metadata to business terms from Enterprise Conceptual Model
- Identify data classification
- Basic data quality profile:
- Completeness (presence/prevalence of null data)
- Correctness (data format/type, compared to expected content; conformance to data standards)
Data Forensics:
- Research and document all channels of data movement in current processes– API, direct connector, ETL script, export/import, manual re-entry, etc.
- Identify systems where data is created, read, updated and deleted
- Performance / latency requirements for downstream data consumers
Identify opportunities for improvement:
- Unnecessary replication of data
- Silo creation
- Use of incorrect data sources
- Process steps where data errors are introduced
- Human processes that need improved tooling support
Communicate with key stakeholders:
- Collaborate to understand business process and software strengths and shortcomings with respect to data
- Present data analysis findings
- Work with data modelers to document data detail
Qualifications
- Data profiling: use data profiling tools, SQL, simple visualizations to analyze and characterize data sets
- Data lineage: use data catalog tools, existing documentation and research to document data lineage
- Communicate data findings in business language
- 5 years experience in data analysis or business analysis with a strong data focus
- Experience with SAP preferred
- Experience with data profiling tools preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Science or Computer Science preferred, or equivalent experience
