Position Overview

The Sr. Business Analyst, Finance is a member of the Kiewit Technology Group responsible for defining needs and recommending solutions that deliver value to our Finance stakeholders. Kiewit Technology Group Business Analysts understand enterprise problems and goals, analyze needs and solutions, document “as is” and “to be” processes, identify and recommend process improvements, determine and document requirements clearly and guide the team to a successful, value-driven solution.  The Sr. Business Analyst is responsible for translating business needs into clear and testable requirements using best Business Analysis practices.

This position will be based out of our Kiewit Business Center at 12720 I Street. This is a shared service center in a professional office setting.


  • Collaborative member of the Kiewit Technology Group Finance Product Team
  • Requirement elicitation, clarification and prototyping to understand customer needs and make solution recommendations 
  • Builds and maintains both functional and technical requirements, through user stories, tasks and acceptance criteria that can be utilized by Development and QA to build and test appropriately 
  • Configure systems to support Business requirements, where applicable 
  • Leads and executes backlog management, working ahead of team
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to analyze current state and understand the problem to be solved
  • Provide accurate effort estimates for business analyst tasks, assisting others where needed 
  • Support build/buy decisions by participating in RFP’s, vendor evaluation and vendor management plans 
  • Manage relationships with business partners to drive satisfaction with the technology organization
  • Consult on product lifecycle management
  • Create Product process, impact and integration maps 
  • Expert in data and data security measures
  • Strong knowledge of data elements to provide effective reporting
  • Expert in process and data mapping tools
  • Recognize and participate in the management of the Product(s) lifecycle from strategic planning through support and decommissioning 
  • Contribute to the recommendation and implementation of Product best practices and toolsets to increase quality results and service bandwidth 
  • Contributes to Business Case, time, cost and ROI efforts 
  • Work collaboratively with other Business and IT Product and Support Teams to ensure communications, transparently integrated processes and seamless support delivery 
  • Identify and address critical issues that could impact the fit and quality of solutions and escalate as needed 
  • Participate in product-related project plans, resources and deliverables to defined timelines and scope 
  •  Mentor and guide colleagues on any aspect of the Product, including training for other IT product or support teams, and business partners where appropriate 
  • Contribute to team strength through mentoring and leadership opportunities


  • 5-10 years’ experience in an Information Technology, or Finance related role
  • Highly motivated and self-directed 
  • Involvement with multiple product implementations
  • Possess an understanding of information management project and quality control best practices 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to present information both to technical and non-technical customers/stakeholders, in appropriate media and form 
  • Ability to maintain a clear focus on achieving results that meet professional and quality standards, within agreed timelines
  • Demonstrate initiative with commitment and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while still maintaining high quality standards 
  • Pro-actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement within the department and acting upon findings to initiate improvements 
  • Knowledge of Visio, SharePoint and Microsoft Suite or similar products 
  • Experience in implementation of enterprise products that satisfy construction related business needs (preferred)
  • Knowledge of various project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall,etc) 
  • Possess an understanding of information technology project management best practices 
  • Ability to understand high level business process/needs with skill to extract requirements in a consumable format for development and testing 
  • Experience working end to end in VSTS 
  • Ability to create process maps and utilize them to identify process improvement opportunities
  • Ability to provide guidance, feedback, support and advice to junior business analysts


Bonus Points:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Finance preferred
  • Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst or Sr. Business Analyst in a technology setting
  • Business Analysis and Management degree
  • Business Analysis certification
  • Experience with agile software development practices
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP software
