Position Overview

Kiewit Data Services is seeking a Software Engineer to advance our analytical capabilities. We are looking for someone with 2+ years' work experience performing ETL Data Wrangling activities in a professional setting with a Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, or related field. 

As the Software Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to build, manage, and re-architect the analytics layer of our data environment. You will interact with business stakeholders, data analysts, and IT resources, working to standardize our data and make this data more easily accessible. You will work closely with both technology teams and the business to create robust, efficient data-driven solutions to business problems, directly adding value to the organization.

District Overview

Kiewit Data Services (KDS) mission is to make Kiewit the premier data-driven organization in our industry.  To accomplish this our projects and districts need to have the right data, of the right quality, with the right level of analysis, available to them at the right time. KDS is a cross functional organization with employees that have expertise in data, technology, support and operations backgrounds.  Our core functions are data Quality, Governance, Enablement, Analytics and Data Science.


This position will be based out of Omaha, NE.

  • Build and Maintain Analytics Stack – Your primary responsibility will be to empower our data analytics team by building a scalable and accessible analytics full stack.
  • Data Integrity, Governance and Documentation – You will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality of data integrity. You will also document your processes and work with various members of data management and governance teams to create data standards within Kiewit Data Services.
  • Data Collection and Preparation – In order to create the necessary analytics layer, you will need to build and manage various ETL processes to ensure our data is accurately updated in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Team Support and Mentorship – As a data prep wizard with Alteryx, you will play a very critical role within our analytics team. You will work closely with your team members to improve the overall technical skillset of the team, ultimately creating greater data wrangling self-sufficiency amongst your peers.
  • Data Analysis and Solution Delivery – While your core responsibility is the analytics data layer and delivering data-driven analytical solutions, you will also be responsible for producing ad-hoc reporting for senior management, aiding in analysis, or building advanced visualizations.

  • Travel and/or relocation may be required for this position (up to 50%)
  • 1+ years of financial/data analysis experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science and/or an equivalent degree is required
  • Experience in front and back-end software development (JS, React, React Hooks, Redux, HTML5[ES5 & ES6] CSS5, Node.js, Express, Python-Django, SQL, RESTful API), developer operations tools (e.g. Azure Cloud solutions), analytics enablement using technical tools and software development lifecycle concepts.
