Position Overview

Kiewit Technology Group (KTG) is looking for a Senior DataOps Engineer to join our team and collaboratively define and drive data operations solutions for the enterprise. The Senior DataOps Engineer is a thought leader in the design, implementation, and operation of efficient and reliable data pipelines used to support transactional and analytic data needs. The Senior DataOps Engineer is well versed in data management, integration, architecture, and technology principles and has a proven track record of partnering with Architecture, Data Engineering and Operations teams to shape data operations patterns that support Kiewit’s Data Strategy while also meeting stated operational availability, risk, and cost mitigation expectations. The Senior DataOps Engineer will also be responsible for ensuring data pipeline solutions are built in accordance with defined standards and patterns.

This position will be located at 12720 I Street, Omaha, NE. Work schedule is Monday  - Thursday onsite with option to work remote on Friday's.

•Strong knowledge of DevOps services and principles with the ability to adapt and apply to data pipelines 
•Defines and implements efficient and cost-effective environment management, code management, orchestration, and observability processes across transactional and analytic data pipelines
•Expert knowledge of Git Repo utilities, branching strategies, and administration 
•Certifies data consistency and integrity during the pipeline process by performing data validation, data quality checks, data cleansing and error handling
•Defines patterns for incorporating data security and role-based access policies into all data pipeline designs
•Optimizes data pipelines and data processing workflows for performance, scalability, and efficiency
•Collaborates with developers, analysts, and data scientists to optimize models and algorithms for data quality, security, and governance
•Audits pipeline solutions to certify they adhere to all security and deployment process patterns, standards, and policies
•Communicates different solution and technology options and articulates the short/long-term impact for each proposed solution
•Participates in the evaluation of current and proposed technologies used to support data pipelines


•Minimum  6 years of work experience in working in data management disciplines including but not limited to, data architecture, data quality, data design and modeling, data warehousing, data integration, and business intelligence and analytics
•Proficiency in the design and implementation of modern cloud architectures (Azure, AWS, GCP)
•Experience with modern data integration technologies (Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, DBT, HVR)
•Experience with modern data warehouse concepts and tools (Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, Databricks)
•Strong programming/scripting skills such as SQL, Python, Scala
•Solid understanding of relevant data governance, data quality, and data security best practices
•Proven ability to mentor less experienced members of the team, other peers, and leaders within the organization to mature data integration and engineering capabilities
•Expertise at managing multiple projects and/or initiatives at a time while navigating gray areas of responsibility and collaborating with others to find optimal solutions
•Excellent decision-making, risk-taking, and critical thinking skills for problem identification and solution recommendation
•Exceptional listening skills, ability to learn quickly, a client-focused mindset, highly organized, excellent time management skills, and demonstrated accountability for company and individual success
•Superior verbal, written, and presentation skills
Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience
