Reconciliation Accountant - Kiewit Business Services

Position Overview

The Account Reconciliations Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts for over 60 companies.  The process requires analyzing outstanding items and working with various departments to identify and resolve variances.

District Overview

Kiewit Business Services (KBS) is a cross-functional shared service organization that provides the business units with customer-specific services focused on cost and business value.   Our services include non-core, yet essential, functions of our businesses including accounts payable, accounts receivable, change control, human capital management, payroll, project initiation, compliance and continuous improvement.

Location

This position is based out of our Kiewit Business Center at 12720 I Street. This is a shared service center in a professional office setting. 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts for 60+ companies
  • Research variances and assist staff in making corrections
  • Prepare monthly journal entries
  • Analyze and prepare monthly corporate allocations
  • Prepare FLUX analysis and periodic schedules for Financial Reporting review
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvement; collaborate with internal and external partners to increase efficiencies 
  • Build and document department processes, procedures and efficiencies
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers; understand Kiewit’s core business and promote a sense of urgency toward business-critical issues
  • Reliable and consistent attendance
  • Support and participate in collaboration activities to promote and implement continuous process improvement
  • Perform other job related tasks as needed or assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Knowledge of basic accounting functions 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to think analytically and apply a process of problem identification, solution development, and implementation
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; clearly conveys messages and ideas, gains understanding; generates interest and holds attention, listens and is open to the ideas of others
  • Highly motivated and self-directed; initiative and a sense of urgency to get things done
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and minimal supervision in a fast paced, high volume environment
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills; ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish daily work and projects
  • Ability to understand and follow corporate policies and applications of GAAP (or other regulations) 
  • Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Excellent customer service and collaboration skills; ability to connect and build relationships with others inside and outside the organization
  • Ability to travel as needed, < 5%
  • Ability to lift, sit, stoop, bend, reach, climb stairs, etc. 
  • Ability to read from a computer or laptop monitor for several hours including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources. 
  • Previous SAP experience preferred
