Position Overview

Kiewit Technology Group’s Product Development Internship is a 12-week summer internship program specifically designed for students interested in a product development career. The program provides the opportunity to experience the main phases of the product development cycle: Requirements, Design, Build and Quality. 

 

This program is designed to encourage your interest in in product management, business analysis, software engineering, quality assurance, or a related technical discipline. The Product Management Internship is intended for students who are beginning their academic studies and would like to learn more about careers in product development through a learning program. Interns will gain group project experience working alongside other Product Management Interns. Your on-the-job learning will be enhanced with mentoring, team building and networking opportunities.

Location

This position is based out of the Kiewit Technology Group located at 12720 I Street, Omaha, NE  68137. 

Responsibilities
  • You will work closely within a team of Product and have end-to-end ownership for the requirements gathering, business process workflow, and quality of a project that will be used on Kiewit job sites or home office locations. 
  • Gain hands-on experience in Agile Methodologies along with various tools and products to have a full understanding of how our Finance and Accounting businesses utilizes our products in the field and Home Office/Back Office. 
  • Work closely with your Manager, and Mentors to evaluate requirements, estimate costs, create and implement features and services. 
  • Through repeat internships, gain experience as a cross-functional team member across the two core tech disciplines (Business Process and Technology).
  • Explore customer need requirements and determine how operations can be altered to improve service
  • Conduct operational research and assist in conducting studies for alternative business solutions
  • Ability to solve complex problems relating to the operations of the business to relate requirements to our Product team to develop the right solution(s).
  • Ability to interpret data and offer appropriate options for improvement strategies. 
  • Measure, document, and assist in driving the progress towards meeting objectives and deadlines
Qualifications
  • Must be a student currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program.
  • Interest in a career in product management, quality assurance, software engineering or related technical major. 
  • Ideal candidates would have completed an Introduction to Computer Science (or equivalent class) by the start of the program. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated interest in the software industry.
  • Solid quantitative and analytical skills
  • Collaborative worker and strategic thinker
  • Self-starter that takes ownership in products
  • High-level of flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements and environments
  • Ability to interact cross-functionally with various levels of KBS employees and management
  • Proficiency in drafting policies, procedures, process flowcharts, and other standard business documents
