Position Overview

Power BI Developer will work with business analyst and Tech Leads to learn business processes, Data Enablement’s documented processes and best practices to develop data visualizations and data solutions.  They will use the business requirements and recommended solution to develop the solution in the appropriate technology to deliver the highest quality result for the business.  

The position also contributes to the overall governance, execution and quality of the Enterprise Reporting team and its general support functions. 
The developer will need to be passionate about creating our next generation of construction products and services, have great problem-solving skills, a passion for quality, and is excited to help build incredible, engineering solutions that win over our customers.

This position will be based out of our Kiewit Business Center at 12720 I Street. This is a shared service center in a professional office setting.  


  • Consults with Business Analyst to identify, define and document business needs and objectives
  • Suggest alternate solutions based on the requirements given by the business that align with the best practices of the Enterprise Reporting Team
  • Select correct reporting front-end application following guidelines set by the Enterprise Reporting Team
  • Ensures all report metadata is documented
  • Works with both the business analyst and technical resources to ensure that all parties understand the requirements of the reports that will be created or modified
  • Builds initial view from master reports for specific reporting requirements
  • Works with semantic developer to ensure all required data is modeled in the semantic layer
  • Participates in functional unit testing, and supports business partners in integration testing and user acceptance testing
  • Ensures all reports leverage the Metadata Repository and follow Metadata governance


  • Experience using standard Business Intelligence reporting applications (SSRS, MS Power BI, etc.) 
  • Ability to work with MS data management technologies such as MDX/Dax as well as data engineering and normalization
  • Ability to work directly with business users and communicate effectively using business terms
  • Ability to assess situations quickly and offer solutions relevant to business processes
  • Understanding of Master Data and Metadata and how it integrates in an Information Technology Corporate Environment
  • Ability to design a solution including detailed written/visual documentation with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical business users and teams
  • Proven ability to understand complex business rules and processes and then ensure that they are correctly manifested within the reporting layer
  • Business Intelligence data model knowledge
  • Interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner, lead working groups, negotiate and create consensus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or Information Systems
