Position Overview

As a Platform Owner within the Kiewit Technology Group, you will be responsible for driving the strategy, governance, and general oversight of Kiewit’s various employee productivity platforms primarily provided by Microsoft.  The Platform Owner most importantly serves as a governing and enforcement subject matter expert able to set the direction for the platform and its future roadmap for Microsoft PowerBi, PowerApps, Sharepoint, etc.  This position is an experienced professional individual contributor role that reports directly to the Business Enablement Platform Manager responsible for Kiewit’s business enabling software.

District Overview

Kiewit Technology Group’s (KTG) mission is to deliver project schedule and cost certainty by employing technology designed by and for the construction industry. Our team deploys apps to the field that increase profitability by maximizing the way we use our people and resources in daily operations. KTG uses the Kiewit Management System (KMS), which includes systems and tools that manage every part of Kiewit’s business and lifecycle of a project, to improve planning and day-to-day execution in the field by giving our people real-time data to make faster, smarter decisions. This position will be based out of Omaha, NE or Lenexa, KS. These are shared service centers in a professional office setting


Technical Roadmap & Requirements 

  • Assess the current state of the various Microsoft Platforms like PowerBi, Powerapps, Sharepoint and provide leadership to our organization to reach a more ideal state. 
  • Work in conjunction with teammates on within the KTG Architecture & Planning team to align the various collaboration and enablement platforms to existing strategic technology roadmaps. 
  • Gather input from users and stakeholders and synthesize into clear product requirements that drive business value. 
  • Work with Data Architecture to build and maintain a clear and concise plan regarding data management within the tool.  This may include considerations in the area of data quality, metadata management, privacy, and the like.
  • Review, prioritize and plan the roadmap of features. 
  • Define and drive the long-term technical product roadmap. 
  • The role is highly focused on Microsoft platforms but may also include related platforms that complement Kiewit’s current Microsoft portfolio of solutions.
  • Develop and execute a decommissioning strategy for products that have become a legacy solution or are no longer enterprise supported.



  • Provide the company with leadership of the enablement platforms and guide its direction in a multi-layer organization. 
  • Partner and gain buy-in of processes from stakeholders and users to create better cohesion and clear communication throughout the organization. 
  • Provide guidance and drive cross-functional initiatives & alignment with business, technology, and other product areas. 
  • Drive platform quality by verifying satisfactory testing results and ensure documentation/training is provided to technical and business support groups. 
  • Display first-rate customer service skills - willing to help with a positive attitude when/where needed. 


Strategy & Vision 

  • In conjunction with Kiewit Technology Group Architecture, develop standards and operating procedures for utilizing the enablement software platforms. 
  • Understand the industry, trends in the industry, and our technology solution’s position in the industry and market. 
  • Seek out and continue learning about new and emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies that may arise within these platforms.


Cost Management

  • Understand the total cost-of-ownership for a platform. Align understanding with roadmap vision and the vision of the entire portfolio. 
  • Understand the cost/licensing models for third-party platforms and work to achieve the most cost-effective solutions for Kiewit, weighing all options and benefits.


  • 3-5 years’ experience managing Microsoft 365 toolsets
  • Experience facilitating strategy meetings and gaining group buy in. 
  • Strong communication skills both in person and using digital mediums. 
  • Excellent organization and time management skills to keep tasks on track and on time. 
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent platforms and understand how to best determine priorities of tasks.
  • Demonstrated success at defining business needs, conducting vendor analysis and launching successful platforms
  • Understanding of and experience with the software development lifecycle
  • Understanding of the Agile framework is beneficial
  • Ability to motivate and coach individuals to develop their skills enabling them to perform at their best and contribute to the success of the team
  • Ability to recognize, assess, and mitigate risks to committed deliverables and timelines
  • Able to clearly communicate progress and risk to stakeholders and leadership team
  • Demonstrated initiative with commitment and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while still maintaining high quality standards
