Position Overview

The purpose of the Payroll Supervisor is to manage the functions associated with U.S. and Canada payroll master data for the company, including pay additions, overpayments, international employees, craft benefit set up and year-end payroll taxes.  This individual displays discretion and confidentiality in their everyday interactions.  The Payroll Supervisor will contribute to the implementation of best practices, process improvement and manage business deadlines.

This position is based out of our Kiewit Business Center at 12720 I Street, Omaha, NE.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises a team of analysts, specialists and a lead, which will include training, mentoring, process improvement and providing guidance with technical and personnel issues 
  • Maintain and ensure the integrity and confidentiality of all employee personnel files and payroll records
  • Establish priorities; manage team resources to maximize productivity and accuracy
  • Empower others by extending responsibility and authority; provide timely feedback and follow-up
  • Hold team and others accountable for expected quality, accuracy, and customer service levels
  • Pro-actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement and act upon findings to initiate improvements, presenting ideas in a persuasive way to gain support
  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external stakeholders; understand Kiewit’s core business and promote a sense of urgency towards business-critical issues
  • Make timely decisions with well-developed judgement, while considering alternatives, risks, and other critical decision factors
  • Escalate pertinent information to Manager, as needed
  • Perform other work-related tasks as needed or assigned
  • Reliable and consistent attendance
     

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience 
  • Leadership skills: emotional intelligence, effective communication, coaching, problem solving, conflict resolution, delegation, talent management and team-building
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to present information accurately, concisely and in a professional manner
  • High level of initiative with commitment and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while still maintaining high quality standard
  • Ability to motivate and coach individuals to develop their skills, enabling them to achieve their best and to contribute to the overall success of the team and KBS
  • Excellent organization and time management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment while paying significant attention to detail
  • Ability to research, recommend and implement process improvements

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Payroll or Accounting Experience
  • Previous SAP Experience
