Omaha, NE, US Lenexa, KS, US
Requisition ID: 167219
Job Level: Director
Home District/Group: Water Business Development
Department: Business Development & Proposals
Market: Water/Wastewater
Employment Type: Full Time
Position Overview
Kiewit's Water Business is seeking a Marketing & Pursuit Communications Director (MPCD) who, first and foremost is an incredible storyteller. This storyteller should be able to dive in deep to understand our organization and what sets it apart AND understand the organizations with whom we hope to partner. That story telling will translate into creative in-person communication, graphic presentations, and video. They should be able to oversee and guide the production of persuasive, engaging, and stunning presentations, social media content, thought leadership that inspires "aha" moments and instill action with our clients.
We are looking for someone who can take numbers and make them matter, and who can cull through information to find the pieces that will resonate most with our audiences. The MPCD will report to the Sr Vice President, Water Markets & Strategy and will focus on the strategy of our incredible volume of pursuits. The role will generate and implement strategies to effectively communicate thru individual presentations for pursuits, digital strategies designed to drive demand and general marketing efforts that help secure targeted opportunities.
For individual pursuits the MPCD will work closely with Business Development Managers (BDM) that have firsthand knowledge of the client and their desires of the project as well as with a Business Line Manager (BLM) that is responsible for the mechanics of the pursuit (estimating, proposing, negotiating, and closing the pursuit.). The MPCD will manage a group of marketing, graphics, and writers to assist in power point, video production, development of collateral materials, and other tools necessary to effectively tell our story while complementing the narratives and graphics developed for the written proposals. The MPCD will determine which media format will work best to get those points across and will manage a team to create visually appealing and memorable communications. The Director will also develop speeches and talking points to coordinate with the visuals, and lead mock rehearsals, ensuring the people presenting are communicating in the compelling manner our story deserves.
Any presentation in response to a RFP will be developed in parallel with the proposal itself (led by the Proposal Director (PD) and their team), the strategy and content of the presentation is the responsibility of the MPCD. The MPCD will be responsible for setting up a consistent process that interfaces with the proposal team and starts with an invitation from a client and ends with a debrief on Kiewit's performance. This process, to be developed by the MPCD and PD, will require planning months in advance with the presenting team to listen to specific elements of the offering that can be compelling and convert that into messages that will match the Voice of the Customer (VOC). The VOC is provided through interaction with the BDM and other professionals that have firsthand knowledge of the client. The MPCD will conduct regular sessions leading up to the actual presentation such that the team has prepared, rehearsed, and refined the narrative. Moreover, the MPCD will lead preparations for Question and Answer sessions that often can challenge our team members and offer another opportunity for differentiation from our competition.
The MPCD will also be responsible for digital strategies that will drive demand generation in various market segments identified in research by the Market Intelligence & Industry Director. Training opportunities to engineering and construction professionals will also be within scope that they may become more confident and adept at creating and communicating persuasive narratives that help us win work.
