Position Summary: Kiewit is seeking an Infrastructure Development Intern to help Kiewit infrastructure and operations teams perform their work more efficiently. This is a technical role that will be involved with designing and implementing tools, pipelines, and workflows for infrastructure administration, deployment, and lifecycle maintenance. Additionally, this role may assist the Kiewit Security Operations Center with process development and enhancement.
Successful candidates should be well organized, self-motivated, and possess outstanding communication skills. They should have a high propensity for learning new technologies and be very accountable in the duties that they perform on a daily basis. They should work well within a high-paced, diverse, and dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities:
• Assist Kiewit employees with:
• Design and implement pipelines to execute builds, tests, and deployments
• Implement tooling to automate cloud and on-prem infrastructure
• Develop and support Chef Cookbooks for software and OS configuration
• Assist with supporting Git/VSTS workflows
• Identify and implement automation for processes that are currently manual
• Identify areas of improvement and opportunities for next-generation technologies
• Supporting role in securing Kiewit systems and data from potential threats or compromise
• Actively participates in security threat monitoring, attack methods, and incident response

Essential Functions:
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux administration fundamentals
• Use effective verbal and written communication skills
• Develop a complete understanding of applicable company policies and procedures and plan and execute the assigned work in accordance with those policies and procedures
• Lift and carry heavy items weighing approximately 50 pounds
• Produce quality work, meeting requirements of company policies, procedures and industry standards
• Set exemplary standards of ethics and stewardship of corporate resources
• Support company philosophies, policies, practices and procedures

Secondary Functions:
• Work well within a team environment
• Communicate all essential information to manager, co-workers, and employees
• Experience with Azure and other public clouds is a plus
• Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus
• Promote quality and demonstrate professional behavior
• Act at all times in accordance with Kiewit’s Purpose Statement and Core Values
• In addition, perform any other job-specific duties as required

Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Basic understanding of code development standards and practices
• A working knowledge of modern scripting/automation languages, such as Python, Ruby, and PowerShell preferred
• Experience with configuration management tools, such as Chef and Puppet preferred
• Experience with CI/CD tools, such as TeamCity, VSTS, and Jenkins preferred
• Experience working with modern RESTful web services and frameworks preferred
