Position Summary: The Analyst - Kiewit is seeking an Information Security Operations Intern to work within the Kiewit Security Operations Center (SOC). This is a technical role that will be involved in the support of several enterprise security tools and systems that are the backbone for many critical applications and business processes.  This position will report to the Information Security Supervisor within the Kiewit Technology Group.  The Information Security Operations team ensures and enhances the availability, reliability and accessibility of Information Security systems and tools, and demonstrates Kiewit’s Information Technology (IT) department’s vision and alignment to the business objectives and strategy.

They should have a high propensity for learning new technologies and be very accountable in the duties that they perform on a daily basis. They should work well within a high-paced, diverse, and dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities:
• Supporting role in securing Kiewit systems and data from potential threats or compromise
• Actively participates in security threat monitoring and incident response
• Cross-department collaboration and communication to ensure appropriate processes, procedures and tools are installed, monitored, and effectively operating and alerting
• Strategy, planning, and operational excellence through continuous improvement and automation
• Ensure monitoring of alerts and logs from enterprise security tools such as firewalls, IDS, anti-virus, data loss protection (DLP) and vulnerability scanners
• Document and conform to processes related to security monitoring and detection
• Prioritize workflow; addressing technical and non-technical escalations and satisfaction
• Perform cyber news analysis, security awareness training and recommend new analytic methods for detecting threats
• Participate in knowledge sharing with other analysts to develop various levels of skill sets on the team
• Interface with technical personnel and other teams as required
• Support the information security function within the company as needed
• Stay informed and educated on security industry trends, potential threats and vulnerabilities

• Experience with Azure and other public clouds is a plus

• In addition, perform any other job-specific duties as required

 

Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing Associate or Bachelors degree in related field
• Basic understanding of Information Security standards and practices
• Some knowledge of one or more of the following: cryptography, IPsec, PKI, VPNs, firewalls, proxy services, DNS, access lists, and application vulnerabilities preferred
• Familiarity with tools used in security operations, incident response, and forensics preferred
• Natural curiosity, and a desire to continually learn and improve
