Position Overview

The Government Affairs/Business Development Manager is imperative to the continued growth and success of our services. This role is directly responsible for the development of processes and best practices to help obtain attractive opportunities that fit Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) operations, resources and financial objectives. You will be part of our rapidly growing District, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.

District Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design Build Management team are driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects to manage their multi-disciplined design teams to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-driven engineers analyze root causes and resolve design issues before they impact schedule and budget. Particularly on large design-build projects, clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout the company. Our staff shares experiences gained, innovative concepts, and design best practices for all projects that we support.

Location

This position is based out of Omaha, Nebraska. This is a shared service environment in a professional office setting.

Responsibilities
  • Works for Businsss Line Management (BLM) supporting business development and win strategies on transportation infrastructure pursuits.
  • Develop and execute both short and long range sales strategies that will maximize revenue and market penetration for Kiewit.
  • Establish and maintain strong customer relationships, specifically at the senior leadership level, to support the operations team, explore new opportunities and/or ensure retention of business.
  • Optimize all strategic / key account contract negotiations and customer service level agreements.
  • Work collaboratively with the BLM organization and districts in developing and cultivating strategic relationships with key clients and engineering partners. 
  • Direct and guide the development of proposal and interview strategy for the Kiewit top pursuits. Lead red team on top projects (or otherwise directed) and develop key interview strategies on strategic pursuits.
  • Represent the organization on industry boards, functions and conferences to ensure an active and visible profile in the industry.
  • Review and work closely with BD leads on developing the teaming arrangements and the memoranda of understanding with the responsible capture manager and corporate resources.
  • Direct and advise the relevant Sponsor(s) for the proposal requirements and establish and review proposal budgets.
  • Execute all responsibilities delegated from the BLM.
  • Develops key client relationships and shapes the process early from the onset of project development
  • Marketing and BD: Leads multidisciplinary teams of up to 40 in the development, production, and delivery of proposals, presentations, and other business development-related products.  
  • Prepares budgets and schedules, proactively tracks in CRM and reports progress against these baselines, and develops and implements corrective actions, to keep efforts on track.
  • Strategy: Assists in the formulation of market strategy.
  • Identifies new market and strategies for market penetration.
  • Assists in the development of strategies to strengthen current market position.
Qualifications
  • Ability to travel (<25%)
  • 10+ years expereince government affairs, communications and public policy
  • 5+ years’ experience developing business opportunities in the transportation and design build 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
