Position Overview

The successful candidate will provide executive and case management support for attorneys in the Strategic Resolutions practice group.  In this role, the successful candidate will take charge of daily case administrative organization and communication, execute proactive project management for working sessions with individuals spread throughout North America, and perform moderately complex case administration.  Attorney practice areas include dispute resolution of all types within the design, engineering and construction industry.


The Strategic Resolutions practice group within Kiewit’s Legal Department crafts and executes creative and often complicated strategies to resolve high-value and challenging obstacles and disputes faced by the company.  The success of the practice group depends on a team approach involving attorneys, high-performing paralegals and litigation support specialists who manage many day-to-day case management details.  Coordination within the team is a critical part of all successful dispute resolution.  We seek only the most driven people and we offer them diverse career opportunities, strong leadership and mentorship, rewarding, collaborative work, and responsibility they won’t find just anywhere.  We’re always pushing new limits.  You can too.


Independence, proactiveness, attention to detail, strong writing and organizational skills and technological confidence are absolute necessities to succeed in this role.  The ideal candidate will be action-driven and possess the ability to manage both simple and complex organizational initiatives with near autonomy under the supervision of attorneys. The successful candidate will be an independent thinker who demonstrates high levels of energy and professionalism and proactively contemplates required or value adding action.  An ability to independently problem-solve and quickly adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and needs are prerequisites for success within this practice group. Strong computer and Internet research skills, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, project coordination experience, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as other business units and vendors are also necessary. Knowledge of and experience of e-discovery and ESI review platforms are a plus.  Sensitivity to confidential matters is required.

This position is based out of Omaha, NE

Responsibilities

  • Manage consistently dense and frequently changing attorney calendars – including the ability to prioritize the most critical events and requests
  • Coordinating matter working sessions with operations personnel, outside counsel, experts and consultants and other home office support staff which frequently occur at Kiewit offices outside Omaha or elsewhere (including facilitating attorney travel, coordinating travel with other participants coordinating meeting and event arrangements, necessary advance communication of agendas and document distribution, and reconciling expenses
  • Coordinating large group events and training sessions with participants from across North America
  • Preparing case reports and financial data
  • Coordinating with business units and other departments as required to obtain information or achieve desired results
  • Maintaining internal tracking databases
  • Reviewing outside counsel billings for compliance with guidelines and coordinating payment of same
  • Preparation of professional level Excel and PowerPoint documents and presentations, and other common administrative support

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in attorney/executive support that aligns with specific responsibilities for this position
  • Law firm or legal environment experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and proactively communicate potential conflicts or delay
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving requested outcomes
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and desktop publishing software such as Adobe products
  • Experience with diverse database and specialty software which drives technological confidence
  • Project management experience is a plus, but demonstration of intelligence and ability to progress will be considered
  • Working knowledge of e-Discovery practices and review platforms is a plus, but demonstration of intelligence and ability to progress will be considered #LI-GF1
