Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. The serve the construction and mining industries and operates in Eastern Canada.
This position will be based out of our district office in Oakville, Ontario, however, candidates must be willing to travel to projects as needed.
- Lead the environmental compliance for the project or district
- Identify, assess and reduce environmental risks to the company
- Develop and update environmental plans
- Perform and oversee field inspections and monitoring (water, quality, underwater noise etc.)
- Identify wetland and sensitive environmental areas for protection and fencing in advance of construction activities
- Maintain project data tracking requirements
- Monitor, forecast and communicate environmental costs at the project level
- Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training to staff at all levels
- Function as a principa technical advisor and coordinator for environmental issues
- Coordinate with relevant crews on their work locations, material needs, quantities and invoices
- Interpret and apply environmental specifications and drawings avoiding and minimizing adverse effects to the natural environment and local communities
- Prepare project and Kiewit required reports and commnication of environmental risks to project management
- Liase with environmental agencies and attend field visits with client and regulatory agencies
- Liase with the client providing them design information, schedule details, quantities etc. ensuring they are aware of any unanticipated discoveries, critical permitting and complicance issues
- Review requirements and prepare proposals and estimates for new contracts
• Ability to travel and relocate as needed
• Undergraduate degree in an environmental science or engineering field
• 10+ years' experience managing design and construction environmental compliance for large construction projects
• Qualified Environmental Professional designation is preferred. Registered Professional Biologist (P. Biol. or quivalent)
• Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental legislation
