Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Quality Manager in our growing Quality Management Group. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects. 

District Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design Build Management team are driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects to manage their multi-disciplined design teams to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-driven engineers analyze root causes and resolve design issues before they impact schedule and budget. Particularly on large design-build projects, clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout the company. Our staff shares experiences gained, innovative concepts, and design best practices for all projects that we support.

This position is based out of our Oakville or Laval offices.

Support Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) District Design Quality Manager:

  • Assist in development and implementation of District quality initiatives
  • Perform typical District quality tasks
    • Design quality training (e.g., new employees, yearly refreshers)
    • Design quality audits (e.g., compliance audits for ISO certification)
    • Assist with ISO certification documentation/audits
  • Project-specific design quality tasks
    • Develop project-specific design quality management plans (DQMP) in conjunction with project team 
    • Perform design quality training for the project team
    • Design submittal quality assurance audits (verify DQMP requirements met by project team for each submittal)
      • Required forms completed/signed-off by applicable personnel
      • Red/yellow/green/blue check prints properly completed
      • Comments resolutions agreed upon and incorporated into the plans/calculations (e.g., owner comments, third-party review comments, Constructability Review (CR) comments, Inter-Disciplinary Review comments (IDR), Independent Technical Review comments (ITR))
      • Design quality documents stored in proper location
  • Occasional travel required, such as monthly travel to Denver or project site as needed


  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS), the transportation market, and the Design-Build contractual model (typical scopes, schedules, and contractual requirements) in order to develop and implement the project-specific quality program
  • A strong background in performing design and design quality on large Design-Build infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to write design quality procedures and project specific design quality management plans (DQMPs)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in leading multiple quality organizations
  • A broad working knowledge of the trades, disciplines, associated special processes, inspection and testing techniques. construction industry codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements associated with the transportation market
  • Self-starter with organizational, managerial, and leadership skills. Must be able to manage a project team, have effective organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong public speaking and technical writing skills. Must be able to communicate to large groups as well as management and client teams
  • Licensed Professional Engineer an asset
  • ASQ Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) certification is a plus
  • Ability to travel  to project locations as required
