Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Design Engineering Manager. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines.  KIE is a multi-faceted division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on design-build and other collaborative delivery of infrastructure projects.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering seamlessly transitions solutions from design to construction through the collaborative efforts of Design Engineering, Design Management, Proposals, Estimating, and Integrated Project Controls. Our construction-focused engineering approach involves a multidisciplinary team working together to maximize value for clients by improving schedules, controlling costs, and minimizing risk on infrastructure projects. This integrated strategy emphasizes collaboration and constructability throughout the project lifecycle, enabling us identify and implement quality solutions with a strong safety focus.

Location

This position is based out of our Oakville, ON office with potential assignment in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).   

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate best practices from project execution
  • Leading pursuit of design-build and alternate delivery projects
  • Lead team of Kiewit design engineers and subconsultants
  • Identify design-build opportunities and develop win strategy for capture
  • Interface and maintain relationships with external design partners
  • Manage schedule and budget
  • Manage deliverables, quality and compliance
  • Interface with other Kiewit operating districts
  • Interface with construction project leadership

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with focus on design-build management in the transportation infrastructure area.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering degree
  • P. Eng is required
  • Familiarity with design-build/alternative delivery is plus
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel between 25%-50% across North America #LI-MD1
