Position Overview

The Program Welding Manager (PWM) will be responsible for overseeing the welding activities across multiple power projects within the Entergy Power Development Program. This role requires a strong leader with extensive experience in welding and construction management. The PWM will develop the Entergy Program Welding Plan which will be fully aligned with the Corporate Welding Program. The plan will be approved by the Kiewit Director of Welding Services and will ensure that all welding operations meet the highest standards of quality and safety, while staying on schedule and within budget. The PWM will spend 70+ percent of their on projects providing leadership, directions, training, and development of Project Welding Managers (when assigned), project welding supervision, and the welders themselves to ensure that all welding personnel have the skill needed for productive, high quality welding operations. They will be involved in the planning, training, troubleshooting, and execution of all welding related operations.

Responsibilities

Responsible for managing the welding and welding associated activities for the Entergy Power Development Program, including but not limited to the following responsibiities:

  • Oversee and manage welding operations on 10–15 large-scale power projects.
  • Develop and implement a contract-specific Program Welding Plan in alignment with Kiewit Corporate Welding standards.
  • Develop program specific welding standards, work instructions, training modules, welder expectations, best practices, metrics, and goals.
  • Lead and mentor a team of welding professionals.
  • Collaborate with program managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align welding activities with program goals.
  • Coordinate with District Welding Managers and Kiewit Corporate Welding Technical Services to comply with district and corporate welding expectations.
  • Monitor welding performance and implement improvements as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Manage welding budgets and optimize resource allocation.
  • Conduct inspections and formal welding operations audits to maintain quality and safety.
  • Stay current with welding technologies and integrate advancements into operations.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including clients and regulatory bodies, to ensure project alignment and compliance.
  • Develop detailed welding plans for each project, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget management.
  • Participate in planning activities for all welding operations.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure welding activities are progressing as planned.
  • Review welding procedures and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Lead training programs and quality control initiatives to enhance the skills and performance of the welding team.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to source high-quality welding materials and equipment.
  • Assist with detailed risk evaluation of welding operations.

Qualifications

  • The Project Welding Manager must be a strong leader with organizational and team building skills with proven ability to manage multiple large-scale welding projects.
  • Must have a deep working knowledge of welding processes, materials, metallurgy, pre and PWHT operation, special processes, inspection, and testing techniques.  
  • Must have detailed knowledge of construction industry welding and associated construction industry codes (AWS, ASME, API, NBIC, AISC, ASNT, NRC, etc.) associated with the work.  
  • Certifications from AWS, CWB, ASNT, API, etc. are advantageous.  
  • Must be able to work within the Entergy Program scope, schedule, and contractual requirements to develop and implement the Program Welding Plan.  
  • Strong public speaking and technical writing skills are required including the ability to communicate to craft personnel, front line supervision, project and executive management as well at the client teams. Must be a capable welder in the processes being used and be proficient in welding software applications.
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
  • Ability to travel as business necessitates.
