Position Overview

 

As an early career Equipment Specialist, you will support regional construction and mining operations. The incumbent of this position is responsible for planning, establishing the schedule and budgets as well as the use and reliability of a fleet of construction and mining equipment. The incumbent will take care of the day-to-day and long-term aspects of a fleet of equipment. The main objective of this position is to improve the reliability of the equipment as well as to implement, audit, manage and monitor preventive maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

• Understand and comply with all company and federal government requirements and provincial health, safety and environmental

• Ensure the supply and handling of materials

• Produce and maintain tool/filter lists and documentation

• Perform equipment and parts inspection

• Provide logistics management and communication

• Plan and establish the schedule and budgets for long and short term equipment

• Plan and process the necessary documentation for critical lifting activities

• Use data from reliability and failure analyzes to increase availability and equipment reliability

• Establish and maintain communication between all levels of supervision and management

• Support service technicians: parts ordering, inventory management, team scheduling and quality and safety management

• Take care of special projects as needed

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in diesel/automotive technology, heavy equipment, mechanical engineering or construction management

• Having at least one (1) year of experience in equipment is preferable

• Have at least 1 year of experience in planning and establishing equipment schedules and budgets is preferred

• Demonstrate a strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done

• Demonstrate excellent organizational, time management and communication skills

• Have an eye for detail and the ability to lead multiple projects concurrently while prioritizing tasks

• Be prepared to travel and relocate as needed

• Be ready to work in an office as well as on a construction site

• Knowledge of CAD modeling programs is an asset

• Ability to access all points of the construction site or equipment facilities in a wide range of environments and climatic conditions

 

Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered as an asset since mobility across provinces in Canada is required. Lessons can be provided as needed.
