Position Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Traffic Engineer in our growing Traffic/ITS Group in Lone Tree, Colorado (Denver Metro area) and Westlake, Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area). You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, MOT, pavement, utilities, drainage, roadway, rail, traffic, and materials disciplines. This infrastructure design group is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.
As a Traffic Engineer, you will be expected to coordinate with project teams in Canada, Mexico, and the United States to design and produce traffic engineering designs for design/build and other alternative delivery projects in North America.
District Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design Build/Alternative Delivery team are driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects to manage their multi-disciplined design teams to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety. They analyze problems, determine root causes, and resolve design issues before they impact schedule and budget. Particularly on large design-build projects, clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout the company. Our staff shares experiences gained, innovative concepts, and best design practices for all projects that we support.

Location
This role will be based out of our Lone Tree, Colorado (Denver metro area) office or Westlake, Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth metro area). We offer relocation assistance for candidates outside of the area.
Responsibilities
- Lead/perform preliminary- to final-design tasks – in the following traffic engineering sub-disciplines – for North America projects through coordination with multi-disciplinary design teams:
- Traffic Analyses and Modeling
- Signing & Pavement Markings
- Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design
- Traffic Signal design
- Roadway Lighting / Electrical design
- Opportunities to supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior and entry-level staff and interns
- Analyze and evaluate complex design and construction phasing plans to formulate effective traffic engineering strategies, and to ensure compliance with traffic operations and safety requirements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of transportation project experience, performing similar traffic engineering duties as outlined above
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer. PTOE certificate is desirable.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in one or more of the following Traffic subdisciplines:
- Traffic Analyses and Modeling
- Signing & Pavement Markings
- Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design
- Traffic Signal design
- Roadway Lighting / Electrical design
- Working knowledge and experience with MicroStation / OpenRoads Designer (ORD) or AutoCAD / Civil 3D platforms
- Skills in traffic simulation / modeling software including Synchro/SimTraffic, Vissim, TransModeler, HCS, or other similar platforms are desired

Base Compensation: $94,000/yr - $120,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
